MONTHLY MINUTES
June 14, 2006
Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 7:08 p.m. There were 15 people in attendance.
The minutes of the May meeting were unanimously approved.
Discussion of Turkish Bakery awning and signage:
Several people brought up that there is confusion on why we should vote on this. Patricia Henderson proposed to send a letter to Alderman Smith saying the Alderman should decide signage issues based on city code. Chris Lawrence seconded.
Aye: 10, Nay: 0, Abstain: 2
The motion carried. The alderman will be notified. The issue of Las Paradita signage will be included in the letter.
Permit Parking:
Patricia Henderson discussed permit parking and the problems with Gethsemene employees parking on Victoria all day. A very heated discussion on the merits of permit parking followed. Chris Lawrence made a motion not to support permit parking.
Aye: 8, Nay: 3, Abstain: 1
The motion to not support permit parking carries.
Patricia Henderson made a motion to send a letter to Regis (and ACC, ECC, both Aldermen) and let him know there are several issues we would like addressed. If these issues are not addressed the block club will deny all future requests.
Aye: 13, Nay 0, Abstain: 2
The motion to send the letter carried.
Sue Morales gave an update on LBRC permit parking progress.
Joan Monroe brought up a notice she received about a building at 1529 W. Hollywood going condo. She has questions about several aspects of the building and she will go to a zoning hearing on Friday.
Sue Morales will send out a thank you letter for the GRIP volunteers. She also reminded people about the Walk for Hunger and gave information about the Property Tax Appeal.
Chris Lawrence said that the ECC board meeting will be open to the public (June 20) and will focus on property tax issues.
