Regular Monthly Meeting Minutes
March 11, 2009

At the Edgewater Baptist Church



The meeting was called to order at 7:10 PM by Peter Gustafson, president. 19 residents and two guests were in attendance.

February meeting minutes were approved.

Chris Lawrence presented the Treasurer’s Report of a bank balance of $390.80 and informed the group that the bank change from First Star to Harris was complete.

ECC board members, Troy McMillan & Nancy Schroeder presented ECC committee & 50th anniversary information to the group and asked Gus to recruit block club reps to serve as phone contacts for ECC’s new safety initiative.

Sue Morales asked for members to contribute Recipes to the Taste of Edgewater Cookbook being developed by ECC for fund raising to help finance 50th Anniversary events next year.

The Edgewater Baptist Church is also working on a cookbook to celebrate their 100th anniversary this year.

Chris Lawrence made a motion that the Block Club donates $100 to the Edgewater Baptist Church’s After-school Program in appreciation for their contributions to the neighborhood. The motion passed.

Sue Morales made a motion to amend the motion made by Rosa Hamilton at the February meeting that the block club sends a letter to the Mayor and the 48th Ward Alderman notifying them that the ETNA block club is opposed to the use of TIF (tax increment finance) funds to pay for the proposed 2016 Olympics. That the motion include sending a copy of the letter to the editors of Sun Times, Tribune, New Star and The Reader newspapers. The amended motion passed.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:20 PM
