MONTHLY MINUTES
October 11, 2006
Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 7:06 p.m. There were 24 people in attendance.
The minutes of the September meeting were unanimously approved.
Treasurer's report: $473.55 on hand.
Announcements
Edgewater Beautiful: On Sept. 30th a group of local residents got together and worked on the Pierce School grounds.
Pat Daly: The 5647 N. Clark condo development is under way. The property had delays due to changes in the plans due to problems with the foundation. He hopes the have the roof on by December 2006. The former 7-11 property at Clark and Olive on the southeast corner has been purchased by Mr. Daly. He plans a development of 3 residential floors with 8 apartments above one floor of commercial space. He is seeking an exception for the 8th unit and another exception for the 2nd floor to be closer than 30 feet to the alley. He wants the 2nd floor to be roughly 15 feet from the alley. Joe Teller asked about the possiblity of a green roof for the building. Mr. Daly responded that he would be willing to look into it.
Joe Teller motion made a motion to let Mr. Daly know the block club likes what he is doing but would like to see completed plans before granting exceptions. The motion passes with 22 ayes and 1 abstention.
Joan Monroe gave an update on the Alderman's Zoning and Planning commitee meeting. She reported that there is a plan to rebuild the "Admiral on the Lake" at 109 W. Foster. A Joe Pepitone's Restaurant at 5427 N. Broadway is in the planning stages. There will also be a theater. A proposal for a bar on Devon that was tabled.
ETNA flyers
There was a discussion of having the flyers in spanish or with a spanish message on them. A range of opinions were voiced. Sue Morales will make a sample flier for the next meeting.
Announcemnts from the President
Safe and Sound, two free safety seminars are being offered by the police.
Demolition permits have been issued for 1255 W. Victoria.
A request has been made for a corner clearance sign at the alley on north side of Bryn Mawr near clark.
ECC nominations and elections are upcoming.
New Business
ETNA will have part of responsibility for fire station when it closes.
The Ridge parking pilot program is in limbo.
Sue Morales will send out email to try and assemble a traffic commitee to investigate gettting a traffic camera at Ridge and Hollywood.
